I started out with picking a font and typing out "A". I outlined it and used that letter as a template. Then, I started to fill out the letter with triangles. I already had a swatches panel created with tints and shades of the red color, Pantone 485, and the gold color, Pantone 871. I just created a gradient of the color within the letter templates and use the opposite color for the background, still using triangles.
